Former Fiji Basketball rep Pita Gus Sowakula will be making his Super Rugby debut for the Chiefs against the Highlanders this weekend.
Sowakula is the latest solution to the Chiefs’ locking crisis.
He will cover locks Brodie Retallick and Tyler Ardon, who are the only specialist locks standing after a groin strain which ruled out Michael Alardice.
The 23-year-old who was also part of the Fiji 7s training squad before the Rio Olympics in 2016 arrived in Taranaki 18 months ago and has been outstanding.
The Chiefs will take on the Highlanders at 6.35pm tomorrow while the Rebels will face the Hurricanes at 8.45pm.
