Rehabilitation works are progressing well in Ba and Nadi towns to resume normal services.
Ba Town was hit badly in the flooding over the weekend.
More than 250 houses were affected by flood waters in Yalalevu in Ba and residents and the business community are now trying to clear the debris.
Ba Town’s CEO, Dip Narayan says the Council workers are working hard to ensure services normalize by tomorrow.
Quick action has been taken by the Nadi Town Council and the business community to normalise services in Nadi Town which was badly hit in the flooding over the long weekend.
Special Administrator, Robin Ali says about 800 vendors have been severely affected as they have lost their stock.
He says Nadi’s main street has been quickly cleared for the travelling public however works on other roads are ongoing.
The President of the Nadi Chamber of Commerce, Ram Raju says around 30 businesses closer to Nadi market and Nadi Back Road were severely affected by the flooding.
The Nadi Chamber of Commerce has confirmed that they have already begun recovery efforts and clean up to have services and businesses back in operation as soon as possible.
Raju says Police presence and monitoring kept matters under good control.
Meanwhile, Lautoka City Council has completed cleanup after the flood.
Lautoka City Council CEO Jone Nakauvadra says flood waters had started receding at around 10am Sunday and a team of 20 council workers had started cleanup on Sunday.
Nakauvadra says workers had cleared off debris such as branches by cutting them up with chainsaws and they had to use water blasters to clear off mud residue on the streets.
He says residents too were busy cleaning up their compounds.
