The Ministry of Women under its’ REACH programme has provided Social Welfare services to 8,353 people with Legal Aid services delivered to 18,701 people and provided awareness of human rights and other governmental department services to 14,389 people.
This was highlighted by Permanent Secretary for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Josefa Koroivueta while speaking at the REACH Capacity Building Workshop in Nadave Tailevu.
He also pointed out that the REACH Programme are key government agencies providing socio ‑ economic and legal opportunities to all Fijians despite their remote locations and distance.
Koroivueta adds that some Fijians are oblivious of the services that are made available to them by government because most of them are restricted with geography and physical challenges and the high transportation cost.
He also highlighted that the workshop is focused on strengthening the participant’s capacity to be more gender inclusive, reflecting on opportunities for improvement and developing qualitative indicators that will accommodate the plights of the vulnerable groups during service delivery.
Koroivueta says that REACH will be the solution to bridge the challenges and with the integrated approach providing a more effective and efficient service delivery approach during the outreach sessions to those in remote and rural areas.
