Film Fiji is working with the iTaukei Affairs and iTaukei Land Trust Board in identifying a standard fee structure where there is an equal distribution of wealth to resource owners during a film production in Fiji.

CEO Dallas Foon has highlighted this at the Public Accounts Committee meeting on the 2015 Audit Report today.

Foon says currently payments are being done after negotiations with resource owners and in a production that was carried out in Taveuni last year $20,000 was given to resource owners as production fees.

Foon adds that around 200 locals are also benefitting from one of Australia’s biggest productions currently being shot in Savusavu.

Foon says the production company has signed a confidential agreement with them however the production is expected to be completed next month.

Over 30 foreign film productions have so far being shot in Fiji this year with nine identified as huge productions as they surpass the 47 percent Film Tax Rebate.

Film Fiji was given a budget of $2.1 million last year.
