The Land Transport Authority has confirmed that the speed cameras that they use are fitted with the Data Block Operating System that generates accurate information to distinguish and identify speeding vehicles.

This comes after concerns were raised by some motorists after receiving speeding offence notices from LTA.

People have questioned the procedure by which LTA identifies exactly which vehicle was speeding in the picture attached to the notice as proof of the offence.

At times, two vehicles can be seen side by side in the picture captured by the speed cameras.

When asked, LTA clarified the matter stating that the speed cameras are able to generate information that provides the exact details of vehicles involved in the speeding offence.

The generated information consists of the date of offence, and whether it was a speed violation or the driver had driven through a red light.

It also contains information such as the vehicle type, vehicle registration, which lane the vehicle was in at the time of offence as well as the vehicle owner’s name.
