A New Zealand yacht captain has been remanded in custody by Labasa Magistrate Cama Tuberi after a large quantity of ammunition were allegedly found on his yacht.
56-year-old Peter Kenneth Mcintyer is charged with one count of failure to declare arms and ammunition to a customs officer.
It is alleged that a search by customs officers led to the seizure of 146 bullets, 25 cartridges and 25 shooting shells on Tuesday in Mcintyer’s yacht in Savusavu.
The matter has been transferred to the Savusavu Magistrates Court.
The case has been adjourned to the 4th of July for bail hearing.
