SODELPA parliamentarian, Aseri Radrodro says one of the unhappiest lots in the civil service are teachers despite the $1 billion allocation to the Education Sector in the 2018/2019 National Budget.
While speaking during the debate in parliament, Radrodro says there is a lot of confusion as people had their acting appointments confirmed, only to be asked later to reapply for the positions.
He says in some cases like in Ra, 33 positions of headteachers have been advertised however Radrodro says there are teachers who are already confirmed for the positions.
Radrodro also says teachers have contacted him, saying that they are yet to get the acting headteachers’ allowances.
Radrodro also questioned how long will it take for the teachers’ quarters in the rural areas to materialize.
He also raised concern that there are no specific details on costs on people accessing general practitioner services in communities within residential areas.
Radrodro says these costs will be paid by the government and the taxpayers need to know the total cost.
Aseri Radrodro also stresses that pumping $1.2M into the goat meat industry is not a good idea at all.
Radrodro also says that more Energy Fiji Limited shares should have been allocated to the Monasavu landowners and other landowning units for the land where the FEA towers are standing.
He says a SODELPA government will review and recognize the longstanding goodwill relationship and entice resource owners for partnership arrangements.
Radrodro says the FijiFirst government gives a lot of handouts, calling it as assistance but they call it irresponsible policies, which does not truly care for the Fijian Families.
He says the opposition and he claims that a growing majority of the people in the country know for a fact that all the FijiFirst government cares about is staying in power.
Radrodro also disputed the figures of economic growth given by the government and claimed that the figures given by the Reserve Bank of Fiji are manipulated.
He says that the growth rate should be at around 5% and a SODELPA government will ensure that.
