A 24-year-old father charged with the alleged rape of his 1-year 9-months-old daughter appeared before Judge, Justice Daniel Goundar.
It is alleged that the man raped his daughter while his wife had gone to the river to wash clothes and had left her daughter under his care.
The court heard that when the wife returned home, she found blood stains on her daughter and upon a medical examination there were injuries found in the child's genitals.
The alleged incident occurred sometime in May 2016 in Tailevu.
The man has pleaded not guilty to the charge and has been further remanded.
Justice Goundar stated that this child maybe the youngest rape victim in Fiji.
The case has been adjourned to 6th August for pre‑trial conference.
