As pacific men and women, we know what we are up against as we have all endured the devastating impacts of cyclones, rising seas and other climate impacts.
This was highlighted by the Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Climate Change, Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum while speaking at the Global Employers Climate Action Forum at Holiday Inn, Suva.
He says we are all witnesses to the damage caused to our national economies and communities and the serious impact that climate change has had on us.
Sayed-Khaiyum says governments, businesses and citizens are looking to Fiji, because our people and our economy are on the front lines of climate change.
He says it is far more than a matter of social responsibility, it is a question of survival of our economy.
Sayed-Khaiyum says it also requires us to become a lot more innovative.
He says this forum is their chance to show how in the pacific, governments and private sector individuals are working side by side to build the resilience for people, infrastructure, environment, economy and especially businesses against the worsening impacts of the changing climate.
