Those farmers who still have balance in their Farms CARE cards and could not purchase the items because of the unavailability of farming items at hardware stores do not need to worry as the deadline on the card will be extended by another month.
Permanent Secretary for Agriculture, David Kolitagane has confirmed this after some farmers from the Northern Division contacted us saying they have been told by the hardware shops that the items under the Farms Care initiative are not available.
These farmers have stated that the card will expire at the end of this month and they are worried as they may lose out on this initiative.
When questioned, Kolitagane says farmers can be rest assured as the Ministry will be extending the deadline.
He says the farmers will be able to purchase the items when the materials arrive at hardware shops.
Attorney General and Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum had highlighted in May this year that they have spent $17.23 million on Farms CARE, helping 35,370 farmers.
