The Fiji Revenue and Customs Service has confirmed that to date a total of 40 packages containing bars of cocaine have been discovered in the Lau Group with a value of more than $40 million.
Those 40 packages were discovered on separate occasions in the Lau group.
Fiji Revenue and Customs Service CEO Visvanath Das has commended the efforts of the islanders and the Turaga Ni Koro for contacting them.
He says with the assistance of the Fiji Navy and New Zealand Naval Vessel Taupo, the Revenue and Customs Maritime Surveillance team successfully brought the packages to the Naval base last week and handed it over to Fiji Police for further investigations.
