Fiji Roads Authority has confirmed that currently there is no need to open up two lanes along Edinburgh Drive in the mornings going down to Suva and one lane coming from Suva.

FRA CEO Jonathan Moore says that according to their research over the past few weeks, there have been very little traffic congestion.

Moore says they will continue to monitor traffic along Edinburgh Drive over the next few months and if they find that there is traffic congestions that warrants the third lane idea, then they will implement that.

FRA had earlier highlighted that they will have a one week trial period in August or September to see how the public reacts to the possibility of opening up two lanes along Edinburgh Drive in the mornings going down to Suva and one lane coming from Suva.

Moore confirmed this after Fijivillage put to FRA whether this can be a possibility to ease the morning traffic jams.

He says they will be looking at other traffic congestion areas where the same three lane concept can apply.
