The Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation has confirmed that they are looking into the request made by the Fiji Pensioners Association to set up a place where senior citizens can get together to socialise.

This comes after Fijivillage put to the Minister, Mereseini Vuniwaqa if they have considered this request.

Vuniwaqa says that they will have to do some data collection in order to commence with the work.

The Fiji Pensioners Association President Hari Raj Naicker had told Legend FM News that they are seeking the assistance of the government to set up a place where senior citizens can get together to socialise.

Naicker had also highlighted that they are also seeking to get a special area in outpatient department in main Hospitals across the country where they can go to without having to wait for hours to be checked or treated.

The Fiji Pensioners Association says health issues among senior citizens in the country needs urgent attention.
