A 27-year-old man residing in Jittu Estate in Raiwaqa has been sentenced to 10 months imprisonment for stealing $4,000 cash from a shop in Nausori Town last year.
Sukulu Tikotoga pleaded guilty to one count of theft and one count of burglary.
In his sentence, Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne said Tikotoga escaped from lawful custody in January this year and was in remand for 7 months.
He said that in mitigation he considered that the man was 27-years-old, married with a child and was seeking forgiveness.
Magistrate Somaratne said the sentence is based on mitigating factors, the guilty plea and the remand period of the accused.
