22 dentists in the country are currently practising with provisional practising licenses.
The Fiji Dental and Medical Secretariat states that these dentists are operating with provisional certificates because they are yet to get indemnity insurance cover.
Acting Registrar of the Secretariat Alipate Mataitini says this is yet to be done.
The Secretariat has made it clear that the dentists will only get the annual practising license after they get the insurance cover.
The insurance cover is needed to ensure that there is insurance to deal with issues relating to medical negligence.
