Today could be the start of a new era for Fijian Cricket as the 2020 ICC World T20 – East Asia‑Pacific qualifier group ‘A’ 2018 starts at Albert Park.
Hosts Fiji are looking forward to play in front of their home crowd for the first time as they prepare to write a new chapter in their cricket history and get back on the cricket world stage.
The last few years has been filled with disappointments for Cricket Fiji but this hosting opportunity could prove to be the breakthrough for them.
Captain Sekove Ravoka believes that hosting the tournament will greatly develop the image of cricket in Fiji and reignite a passion and interest for cricket among Fijians.
Fiji will take on Vanuatu in their opening match at 9.30am today.
Fiji will also take on PNG and Samoa with the top two teams at the end of the tournament in Fiji progressing to the ICC World T20 – EAP regional final in 2019.
