The Nakasi-Nausori corridor has been identified as the main market of methamphetamine in Fiji.
This has been revealed by the Divisional Police Commander Eastern Kasiano Vusonilawe to Fijivillage.
Vusonilawe says at this stage cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamine are the three main hard drugs found in the Eastern Division.
Vusonilawe says that in terms of marijuana they are focusing on islands in the Lomaiviti Group.
Police continue to plead to members of the public to come forward if they have bars of cocaine believed to have washed ashore to some islands in Lomaiviti.
Vusonilawe says they a have team currently being stationed in Ovalau as police believe that some members of the public have found cocaine bars and are keeping them.
When asked by Fijivillage if they have identified the source of cocaine that is being found, Vusonilawe says that they are still working to identify the source however they have also found apparatus and raw materials used to make methamphetamine.
The team is also waiting for the provision of more boats to allow them to expand their operation not only on drug raids but creating awareness in the Eastern Division.
