High Court Judge Justice Vinsent Perera has dismissed an appeal by a former head teacher who was convicted and sentenced for indecent assault.
Rom Dutt Narayan was appealing against his conviction and sentence.
On the 19th July 2016 in Lami, the former head teacher indecently assaulted a female student.
The incident happened inside the former head teacher’s office.
The Suva Magistrates Court had sentenced Narayan to 18 months imprisonment and was also ordered to pay the complainant $1000 as compensation.
In his appeal, Narayan submitted that the Magistrate erred in law when he made so many assumptions in his judgment.
In his judgement, Justice Vinsent Perera said there was no merit in the grounds of appeal.
