10 people who were ineligible for the Homes CARE initiative after cyclones Keni and Josie have returned their cards.

Permanent Secretary for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Dr. Josefa Koroivueta says that these people have realised that what they did was not right and the amnesty period allowed them  to do so.

When questioned by LegendFM News on the number of people who have used the money in the cards after giving false information to get the Homes CARE Assistance, Koroivueta says some of the people returned their cards and paid back the cash that they had used.

Koroivueta had earlier stated that producing false information to gain financial advantage is a crime under the False Information Act.

Meanwhile, the deadline for the use of the balance on Homes CARE Cards had been extended for another month until this Friday which is the 31st of this month.

The Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation has reviewed the expiry date, which was initially set at July 31st, 2018, for the utilisation of Homes‑CARE M‑Paisa Card balance, because of the unavailability of approved building materials and household items with the approved vendors.
