National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad says while NFP would like to see current President, Jioji Konrote nominated for a second term because he is eligible for re‑appointment, provided he is willing to serve as our Head of State for another three years, the party also does not know who Government’s nominee will be today.

In a statement released last night, Professor Prasad says that they are deeply disappointed at the total lack of consensus and dialogue between both Government and the Opposition as well as the main opposition party of SODELPA with NFP regarding the appointment of the President in Parliament today.

He says they also make it clear that they disassociate themselves from a statement issued by the Opposition Office. The NFP Leader says they were not part of any discussions on the Opposition’s position and are not even aware of who SODELPA’s nominee will be.

Professor Prasad also says that they do not know who the Prime Minister will nominate for Presidency.

He says while the Prime Minister travels around the world harping on about Talanoa, dialogue and consensus when reaching solutions to tackle Climate Change, Government cannot practice what it preaches where it is needed the most – in the highest court of the land.

Professor Prasad says they will attend parliament today because NFP’s voters expect them to represent them in the People’s House.

He says they will make their position known in parliament.
