The logistical arrangements for the removal of the MV Southern Phoenix is underway in Cairns, Australia and a barge will bring all the equipment to be used for salvaging.

This has been highlighted to Fijivillage by the Acting CEO of the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji Captain Philip Hill.

Captain Hill says the estimated time of the salvaging works is 10 weeks.

The 32 loose containers on the vessel have been safely removed.

This includes 4 tank-tainers and 1 trailer.
