The brother of rugby league player James Ackerman who was killed after a high‑impact shoulder charge in 2015, has criticised the decision to clear Melbourne Storm fullback Billy Slater, saying it "insulted" his brother.

Slater was cleared by the judiciary on Tuesday night after a hearing and deliberations of nearly an hour by the three‑man panel.

Andrew Ackerman posted on Facebook after the verdict, with a picture of his brother in a hospital bed.

He also said rugby League is just a game, life is not!!

Ackerman says he has no hate towards Billy Slater or the Melbourne Storm but a shoulder charge is a shoulder charge and that's exactly what happened on last Friday night.

Melbourne Storm meet the Roosters at 9.20pm Sunday in the NRL Grand Final.
