New Zealand’s heavyweight boxer Joseph Parker’s quest to return to the top level of world heavyweight boxing will begin in Christchurch on 15 December.

Parker suffered a points loss to Anthony Joshua in a heavyweight title unification bout in Cardiff in April, Parker then lost to fellow Briton Dillian Whyte in July.

Head trainer Kevin Barry says after a five‑year undefeated run that took Joseph all the way to winning the WBO World Title, they now find themselves in very unusual territory - coming off back‑to‑back losses.

Parker’s opponent for his first fight in New Zealand in 18 months will be confirmed in coming week.
