Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has called on the opposition parliamentarians to get out of their siege mentality, and focus on the betterment of all the people in the country.

While speaking in parliament, Sayed-Khaiyum said that the opposition has reduced all the arguments in parliament to ethnicity.

Sayed-Khaiyum also called on Opposition Leader Sitiveni Rabuka and other members of the opposition to stop sub texts of threats and violence.

The Acting Prime Minister also said that we are created the same inside.

He says that SODELPA MP, Mitieli Bulanauca had said the 1997 constitution was put in place by Satan yet today he finds the 1997 constitution acceptable.

Sayed-Khaiyum says this type of inconsistency is characteristic of Sitiveni Rabuka. He says Rabuka has given 5 or 6 reasons at different points in time as to why he did what he did in 1987. Sayed-Khaiyum says Rabuka is on record for saying that in 1987, Fiji was not ready for an Indian Prime Minister. He says Doctor Bavadra was an iTaukei from Viseisei, a village which is said to be the first landing of the iTaukei.

Sayed-Khaiyum says Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has ensured the protection of iTaukei land and stopping the permanent alienation of iTaukei land which had happened in the past during the days of SVT and SDL.

He also says that the non-congregation of the Great Council of Chiefs does not mean that the chiefs do not exist.
