A man has been sentenced to 20 months imprisonment for two counts of defilement by the Suva Magistrates Court.
The man’s sentence has been partially suspended where he will serve two months in prison while the remaining 18 months has been suspended for two years.
The man has been convicted of two counts of defilement of a 15-year-old girl.
The offences occurred between 1st January to 3rd April this year.
Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili while delivering the sentence told him that he had carnal knowledge of the victim which had resulted in her getting pregnant while she was a student.
Ratuvili told the man that he had defiled the victim on several occasions.
Sentence for both counts will be served concurrently.
