This was highlighted by Savenaca Kamikamica while presenting their ireguregu for the Opposition today at the funeral of the late Speaker of Parliament Doctor Jiko Luveni.

He thanked the Vanua of Naduruvesi from Ono-i-Lau for raising a lady with such a calibre.

While receiving the ireguregu presented by the Opposition members of parliament today, Luveni’s family said the Vanua o Naduruvesi, from Ono-i-Lau is now well known because of the late Speaker of Parliament.

They say that through Dr Luveni, they have made their mark.  

Doctor Luveni is from Nukuni in Ono-i-Lau.

The Vanua o Naduruvesi says they are pleased to see the Opposition with their ireguregu and they hope for more great days for Fiji ahead.

Opposition Leader Sitiveni Rabuka led the delegation which included the Leader of National Federation Party Biman Prasad, Lynda Tabuya, Mosese Bulitavu, Adi Litia Qionibaravi, Salote Radrodro, Ratu Suliano Matanitobua and some party supporters.

People from all walks of life are paying tribute to Fiji’s first female Speaker of Parliament, the late Doctor Jiko Fatafehi Luveni who passed away last Saturday at the age of 72 after a short illness.

Among those that wrote a message of condolence in the condolence book in honor of the late Speaker of Parliament at the Parliament Foyer today was the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Jone Usamate.

Usamate says Doctor Luveni was not only a longtime friend but a mentor.

Also paying tribute to Doctor Luveni today was 63-year-old Social Worker Siteri Gonelevu who recalled fond memories of her interactions with Doctor Luveni.

President of Fiji Pensioners Association Hari Raj Naicker says Doctor Luveni has done a lot for nation building.

The government delegation will present their ireguregu tomorrow.

The Department of Legislature presented their 'ireguregu' yesterday to the family of the late Speaker of Parliament, Dr Jiko Luveni, led by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Veena Bhatnagar and the Secretary General to Parliament Viniana Namosimalua.

Doctor Jiko Luveni will be laid to rest this Saturday.

The funeral service will be held at Centenary Church in Suva.
