Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach Gareth Baber says that Fiji Rugby Union has done a lot in 2018 in terms of players welfare however he hopes that more will be put in next year to keep players in the team.
Baber says he is not happy with overseas clubs who in the past scout players as soon as they play in the national team.
He says that while he cannot do much to solve the issue, he hopes that next year more resources including financial support will be boosted.
He says in the past he has seen a deterioration in players performance as soon as they leave the team for overseas contracts
Baber confirmed that he will not be fielding his main players to play at the Coral Coast 7s.
19 players will return to camp next Wednesday to prepare for the Hamilton 7s.
Fiji is pooled with Australia, Argentina and Wales for the Hamilton 7s which will be held on the 26th and the 27th of next month.
