The Rakiraki Town Council and residents have begun preparations for any heavy rain, strong winds and river flooding.
This has been confirmed by Rakiraki Town Council Acting CEO Tulsi Ram who adds that they have teams on standby and also teams out in the field.
Ram adds that teams in the field have been collecting rubbish to clear major drains in towns and communities that are prone to flooding and continue to also work with DISMAC to ensure all rubbish that may contribute to flooding is cleared.
He says the Rakiraki Town Council also continues to assist residents who have requested for assistance in cutting down of tree branches by their homes and removing objects that may cause damage to any property in towns and residential areas.
Ram says that in the past 24 hours the Rakiraki has experienced an overcast weather with very little or no rain, however they continue preparations in light of the current weather situation.
