Spirits are high in the Rugby Town of Sigatoka as they are just three weeks away from hosting the 9th McDonalds Fiji Coral Coast Sevens Tournament.
Tournament Director Jay Whyte says that the iconic event which started by hosting local teams alone has grown its popularity over the years and is now a scouting ground for overseas clubs.
The entry free tournament is expected to draw in a large crowd next month.
Whyte says that the tournament has fast become the tournament every major team wants to win.
He also says that the prize money for the tournament is attractive but he has not revealed the figures.
42 teams will be participating in the tournament which includes 16 men’s, 10 women’s and 16 youth teams.
The 3‑day 7s tournament will take place from the 16th to the 19th of next month at Lawaqa Park.
Former Springbok and Rugby 15s World Cup winner Bryan Habana is the Tournament Ambassador this year.
