Ireland’s fly‑half Jonathan Sexton has been declared fit ahead of their Six Nations showdown with England next weekend.

Head coach Joe Schmidt is expecting Sexton to get a green light in terms of fitness for the mouth‑watering game.

The 2018 World Rugby Player of the Year had been absent from Leinster‘s recent wins over Toulouse and Wasps due to a knee injury but has returned to training.

Schmidt says that Sexton will train fully with the team from tomorrow.

Ireland are reigning champions after last year’s impressive Grand Slam but coach Schmidt was keen to downplay their favourites tag ahead of the beginning of the new season.

Ireland will face England at 4.45am next Sunday in the opening match of the Six Nations Competition.
