The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7's team thrashed Wales 54-7 in their first pool match of the Hamilton 7s.

Fiji dominated the whole match with strong defence and attacking skills.

Waisea Nacuqu scored the first try within the first two minutes of the game followed by a second try from Meli Derenalagi through an offload from Aminiasa Tuimaba.

Wales continued to give away penalties to Fiji.

Tuimaba crossed the line in the fifth minute to score another try followed by another try from Sevuloni Mocenacagi.

Aminiasi Tuimaba scored his second try just a minute away from half time.

Fiji lead 33-0 at half time.

Terio Tamani opened the second half with another try to extend their lead followed by a try from Mesulame Kunavula.

Wales managed to score their only try in the second half of the match.

The 2018 Hamilton Player of the Final Alasio Naduva sealed the win for Fiji with another try to bring the final score to 54-7.

Captain Kalione Nasoko dedicated the win to their supporters and the hardwork by the players.

In other matches played, Samoa delivered a dramatic upset to beat England 12-10, South Africa defeated Kenya 29-10, USA beat Tonga 29-7 while Scotland defeated France 26-21.

Fiji will face Argentina in their next pool game at 2.42pm and take on Australia at 6.52pm in their last pool game later this evening.  

The cup quarters will start at 10.36am tomorrow, the semifinals will kick off at 3.16pm and the final will start at 7.10pm tomorrow.
