Veterans Chris Dry and Kyle Brown have not been included in the South Africa 7s team for the Las Vegas and Vancouver 7s.
Dry was ruled out with a rib injury while Kyle Brown the most capped South Africa 7s player takes a break on this trip.
Sport24 reports Coach Neil Powell has also selected 20‑year‑old debutant Sako Makata who will become the 176th Blitzbok since the inception of the World Series.
South Africa will face Japan, Chile and England in Pool D of the tournament.
Powell says the trip will be about restoring pride in their performances.
Meanwhile, Fiji will face Scotland in their first match of Las Vegas 7s at 11.22am next Saturday, they will then face Wales at 2.23pm on the same day.
They will then face Australia at 7.52am next Sunday.
