Chiefs coach Colin Cooper admits he was left in shock following his team's Super Rugby slaughter at the hands of the Brumbies in Canberra last night.
In a hopeless display, the Chiefs were hammered 54‑17 in what was the far from ideal way to mark captain Brodie Retallick's 100‑game milestone, and which leaves them without a win this season.
Cooper says they were all in shock, and surprised with that result.
He says the Brumbies played better than them and it's one of those games they just want to forget.
In all his previous 122 games as a Super Rugby head coach, Cooper has never before had a side concede eight tries, or 50 points.
For the Chiefs, it was the first time they had a non‑South African team run in eight tries against them.
In other results, the Crusaders beat the Hurricanes 38-22, the Sharks beat the Blues 26-7, Stormers beat the Lions 19-17, the Waratahs defeated the Sunwolves 31-30 and the Jaguares beat the Bulls 27-12.
