Italy had lost its previous 19 matches in the Six Nations ‑ a championship record ‑ and seemed to be heading for a 20th straight defeat as tries from Quinn Roux and Jacob Stockdale gave Ireland a 12‑3 lead halfway through the first period.

In other Six Nations matches, France defeated Scotland 27-10 while Wales defeated England 21-13.

At the end of round 3, Wales are currently leading the Six Nations points table with 12 points, England are in second place with 10 points, Ireland are in third place with 9 points while France are in fourth place with 6 points.
Scotland take on Wales at 2.15am next Sunday, England will face Italy at 4.45am next Sunday while defending champions, Ireland host France at 3am Monday the 11th of next month.
