Good news for an additional 50 settlements around the country as they will soon benefit from weekly rubbish collection for the first time beginning from mid this month.

Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says that they have increased the waste collection subsidy to the Municipal Councils  from $350,000 to $1.5 million.

He was responding to a resident of Koronivia on the 2019-2020 online Budget consultation who raised concern regarding the rubbish disposal in his area.

The man said that he has noticed that people in Waidamudamu have created dump sites beside the road and this is the same for those in Farm Roads.

Sayed-Khaiyum assured that Waidamudamu, Farm Road and Koronivia Road which falls under the boundary of the Nausori Town Council are amongst the 50 settlements that will be assisted through rubbish collection from mid this month.
