The Swire Shipping Fiji Warriors have defeated Tonga A 54-14 in their first match of the World Rugby Pacific Challenge this evening.
Eroni Mawi played a strong game as he scored Fiji's first points in the match bringing their points up 5-0.
Fiji's second try came winger Tira Patterson while Tonga answered with a converted try to close the gap 7-10.
John Dyer and Veramu Dikidikilati gave a boost to Fiji as they scored a try each giving Fiji a lead of 22-7.
Junior Tagi extended Fiji's lead while Tonga scored before halftime.
Fiji lead at the end of the first half 29-14.
Fiji dominated the second half keeping Tonga away from their try line.
Mawi scored Fiji's first try in the second half, Tuidraki extended their lead with another try giving Fiji a lead of 39-14.
Dikidikilati and Patterson each scored a try for the Fijian Warriors adding on to their points 49-14.
Tuidraki scored the last try of the game.
Warriors captain, Frank Lomani says they will now focus on the next game and that he is happy to get a win on the first time he captained an international team.
Fijian Warriors will now face Junior Japan on Tuesday at 5pm while Samoa A Wilmer take on Tonga at 2.30pm with games to be held at the ANZ Stadium.
