A 32-year-old bus driver who allegedly abducted and had sex with a 15-year-old girl in Nabua last Thursday has been granted bail by Suva Magistrate Seini Puamau.
The man is charged with one count of abduction and one count of defilement.
The police complaint was filed by the father of the girl.
According to Police, the girl said she was a passenger on the bus that day. She also told Police that she was the girlfriend of the bus driver and because of that, she would regularly take bus rides.
A domestic violence restraining order has also been issued by Magistrate Puamau after the prosecution said that the complainant was the girlfriend.
But defence lawyer Jitendra Reddy informed the court there was no relationship between the two.
This was also confirmed by the accused himself in court.
The case has been adjourned to 30th April 2019.
