SODELPA MP and lawyer Niko Nawaikula has denied in the Suva Magistrates Court that he was driving carelessly last year.
He has pleaded not guilty to one count of careless driving and one count of failure to comply with requirements following an accident.
In court this afternoon, a bench warrant issued against Nawaikula on the 27th of last month was cancelled.
Nawaikula told the court that his clerk had took down the wrong date for his appearance.
Nawaikula allegedly hit a vehicle along Ratu Mara Road in Nabua on 31st May last year.
The incident happened at around 8 o'clock in the morning.
Following the accident, Nawaikula also allegedly took off and failed to check for the damage to the complainant's vehicle.
Nawaikula is representing himself in this case.
His bail has been re‑issued.
The case will be called again on 13th November 2019.
