Quade Cooper has no lack of motivation for his return to Brisbane to take on Brad Thorn's Queensland Reds.
The Reds host the Melbourne Rebels on Saturday night in a crunch game in the Australian conference of Super Rugby.
Cooper headed south to link with the Rebels this season, a career‑saving deal for him after being sidelined for the entire 2018 season by Queensland coach Thorn who felt the controversial Cooper didn't fit his team's culture.
Playmaker Cooper had helped the Reds to their only Super Rugby title in 2011 during 118 games for the state but his enforced spell on the sidelines saw him unwanted by the Wallabies as well.
Now he's making a mark in a fresh start with the Rebels.
And with his old Queensland and Wallabies mate Will Genia playing halfback in Melbourne, the Rebels are sitting second in the Australian conference, one point behind the Waratahs.
The Australian media are now talking up the Cooper‑Thorn rivalry.
The Reds will face the Rebels at 8.45pm this Saturday.
