Acting Prime Minister and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says Chief Justice Anthony Gates cared about this nation and its people, while acknowledging his contributions to the nation.
While speaking at the launch of the Laws for Fiji website Sayed-Khaiyum says that Chief Justice Gates has shown nothing but courage and perseverance for Fiji.
Sayed-Khaiyum also highlighted that Chief Justice Gates was the brave one who stood for Fiji during the gravity of the situation faced between 2006 to 2009.
Chief Justice Gates retires from 7th April this year.
Chief Justice Anthony Gates was first appointed to the High Court of Fiji in 1999.
In early 2007, he was appointed as the Acting Chief Justice, going on to receive a substantive appointment as Fiji’s Chief Justice in 2008.
