Fiji Sugar Corporation will invest $30 million in capital projects this year.
This includes FSC undertaking it’s largest ever capital project with the renovation of the Rarawai Mill boiler.
FSC CEO Graham Clark has confirmed that 30 engineers who are from India will be working on the project.
Fiji’s largest sugar mill, the Lautoka Mill is also getting upgraded.
Clark says this upgrade will ensure steady and consistent running of the mill.
Meanwhile molasses sales are expected to generate $15 million in the coming year.
FSC is currently loading its final molasses consignment of 21,000 tonnes for the 2018/19 year being sent to the Philippines.
9,500 tonnes were from Labasa with the remaining amount being loaded frm Lautoka.
Demand for Fiji molasses for rum production is growing as well and a consignment was sent to Tahiti last year.
Paradise Beverages is also a buyer of the Fiji molasses for rum.
