Police say the three New Zealand journalists who were taken in for questioning for an alleged case of criminal trespass were questioned and released this morning.

No further action will be taken.

Police say they would like to clarify that the three were never locked up in a cell and were in the CID office at the Totogo Police Station.

They say the three were provided meals, taken to a restaurant to get their dinner and this morning were in the care of officers from the Tourist Police in their office where they were given breakfast and coffee was brought in for them.

Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho with NZ journalists

Police say that contrary to media reports of the three being jailed, the three were never detained in any cell and were well looked after by Police officers.

However Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho says he is concerned about some rogue officers in the force and he should have been informed that foreigners were taken in for questioning.
