Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama today acknowledged the Fiji Special Olympics Team saying their smiles and positive energy have particularly inspired him in parliament this week.
Bainimarama highlighted this while rewarding the athletes with cash cheques as a show of gratitude for their achievements at the 2019 Special Olympics World Games.
The Special Olympic Games was held in Abu Dhabi where Team Fiji won 7 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze.
Gold medalists were given $1,000 each, silver medalists received $600 while 6 athletes received $300 for winning bronze.
Bainimarama also rewarded pocket money to the rest of the participants telling them its not always about winning medals, thus he thanked them for representing Fiji and says they have made all Fijian proud.
The Prime Minister reminded the athletes that their huge smile and positive energy are contagious and in the face of any hardship or obstacles that life throws at them those smiles shines through it all, including those of the heated debate in parliament.
The Prime Minister wished the team well in their future competition including the next World Cup in Germany and the Winter World Cup in Sweden.
