The Education Ministry says it is preparing to support parents of students that attend Vatuvonu Seventh Day Adventist College in Cakaudrove which is set to close down on the 18th of this month.

Minister Rosy Akbar says they are preparing to support parents to find alternatives for their children to continue their education elsewhere and teachers to be transferred to new posts.

Akbar says she hopes that the Seventh Day Adventist Church will see its way clear to change its decision in the best interests of the 178 students, 21 teachers and the community which is served by the College.

She met the SDA President, General Secretary, Director Education and Finance Manager on Friday to discuss the decision.

The Education Minister says they respect the decision of the SDA.
