The Crown Prince of Norway His Royal Highness Haakon Magnus has spoken highly about Fiji’s efforts in trying to address climate change.

Speaking during the welcome reception hosted by the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, Prince Magnus says he knows the countries of the South Pacific are vulnerable to the effects of climate change as they are also experiencing effects in Norway as well.

He says Fiji’s leadership in the implementation of the Paris agreement is commendable.

Prince Magnus says he is the first in his family to visit Fiji and is looking forward to learning more about Fiji.

The Prime Minister says our nations are faced with a mutual sense of urgency to address climate change, as the consequences of rising seas and heightened temperatures are already being felt by Fijians and Norwegians and while the whole world stands to suffer from a changing climate, the impact afflicting our nations is already proving to be outsized.

Bainimarama says he is looking forward to work with Norway in the fight against climate change.
