Hurricanes flanker Ardie Savea is being hailed as the best in the world by captain TJ Perenara, following his display on Saturday on the 47‑19 win over the Chiefs.

Savea who is  25-years-old  was a constant presence in the Hurricanes' seven‑try demolition job over the Chiefs, being a nuisance at the breakdown as well as crossing the line once at Westpac Stadium.

Speaking to media after the match, stand‑in captain Perenara hailed Savea's form throughout the 2019 season.

Perenara says Ardie's a freak, and he can do some things on the field no one else can do.

Perenara's sentiments were backed up by coach John Plumtree, having overseen Savea's development first as assistant to Chris Boyd, before taking on the role himself.

Plumtree says he thinks TJ's pretty much nailed it and is a leader in their side.

He says Ardie is a player everyone looks up to. He looks forward to that responsibility, and pretty much week after week he steps up.

The Hurricanes will take on the Rebels at 5.15pm Saturday, the Highlanders will face the Chiefs at 7.35pm while the Brumbies will host the Blues at 9.45pm also on Saturday night.
