The Minister for Education Rosy Akbar has appointed 14 new academic and industry leaders to the Fiji National University Council.
These 14 Council members join the Minister’s recent appointment of Rajesh Chandra, the former Vice‑Chancellor of the University of the South Pacific, as FNU Council Chancellor.
Akbar says that the visionary leadership of this Council is fundamentally important for the growth of FNU as an institution and in widening and deepening the scope of educational opportunities available for FNU students.
She says that these carefully chosen appointees bring with them a profound offering of skills, experience and perspectives.
The new appointments include Tessa Price who is the ANZ Group’s Pacific Regional Executive, Professor Dharmendra Sharma who has served as the Chair of the Academic Board since 2014 at the University of Canberra.

These newly appointed members will join the Council Chancellor and other ex‑office members of the FNU Council in appointing a Deputy Chancellor.
