The Fiji Bus Operators Association President, Richard Lal has confirmed that bus services will operate as normal tomorrow.
After a meeting with the Bus Operators Association members today, Lal stressed that the 55 bus companies have confirmed that services will operate as normal.
He says that none of their bus drivers which make up 98 percent of all bus drivers in Fiji will be part of the planned FTUC nationwide protest tomorrow.
Transport Workers Union General Secretary, Kamlesh Kumar earlier highlighted to FijiVillage that he hopes their 1,000 members who are mostly bus and taxi drivers support the protest tomorrow.
When questioned by FijiVillage on whether the Transport Workers Union was asking its’ members not to turn up to work tomorrow, he maintained that bus services will not be affected tomorrow.
Kumar says that the union does not want to disrupt bus or taxi services to the public but are asking their members who have the day off to join the protest.
He says that those members who will be part of this protest will meet at the FTUC site tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Fiji Taxi Association President, Raben Bhan Singh confirms that taxi services will not be affected tomorrow.
Singh has also stressed that their 9,200 taxi drivers are not members of the Transport Workers Union.
