The Fiji Trades Union Congress board had to stop it’s meeting to decide on whether they will go ahead with the planned nationwide protest with their 35 affiliate union members tomorrow after Police arrived at the FTUC headquarters to conduct a search in the last hour.

Assistant National Secretary Attar Singh says they will make the announcement on the nationwide protest later today.

Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho has stressed that no strike has been approved and any such action is illegal.

Qiliho told Fijivillage late yesterday that Police are also ready for the FTUC’s planned nationwide protest tomorrow and will deal with any unlawful gathering.
