Fijian‑born All Blacks flyer, Waisake Naholo will leave New Zealand Rugby to play for London Irish in England after the Rugby World Cup at the end of this year.
This was confirmed by Naholo’s Super Rugby club, the Highlanders last night.
Naholo says he is looking forward to the opportunity of playing in the UK but is still very much focused on the present and want to work really hard with the Highlanders to ensure they finish their season on a high.
The 28-year-old has played 26 tests for the All Blacks after debuting in 2015 and had also played 57 games for the Highlanders.
All Blacks coach, Steve Hansen has praised Naholo wishing him well for the future.
Hansen says Waisake is a special member of the All Blacks group and an exciting player who brings an infectious sense of energy and humour to the team environment.
Highlanders Chief Executive, Roger Clark says that Naholo was a fan favourite and his deeds will long be remembered by the Highlander faithful.
The Highlanders will take on Jaguares at 5.15pm this Saturday.
